Technology for the greater good and for a green India! Here are a few ideas to Go Green (Part 1). Embrace technology and use it to elevate, uplift, enhance and recharge society and allow people to easily get involved and become the champions of change in the fight for India’s efforts to preserve and protect its ecology.
Green buildings:
- Complete building management software on an iPad or Tablet. Sensors driven by Internet of Things (IoT) devices that monitor the health and energy consumption on a real time basis. Compliance with environmental laws, best practices and standard certifications.
- Carbon sequestration is the process of capturing and storing carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas in the environment and limit climate change.
- A net zero carbon building is a building that is designed to minimize its carbon footprint and energy consumption, and to achieve zero or negative carbon emissions. A zero-carbon building does not waste energy, consumes less water, and generates as much energy as it consumes or uses renewables as their energy source.
- To become a practitioner in the greening of India, you may require a LEED Certification. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Contact the Green building Council for everything to do with this field. https://igbc.in/
Software to manage operations of solar panels and wind turbines. Artificial intelligence: a technology that can help analyse environmental data to improve planning and operational efficiency.
- windPRO is the industry leading software suite for design and planning of wind farm projects.Several cutting edge softwares are available for the design of solar panels.
- Install solar panels on your roofs and open areas as a way to manage consumption from and to the grid.
Software products for ecology and the environment
- Using web and mobile apps and value – added software solutions for startups and entrepreneurs in ecology and conservation in India
- Moss is very keen on doing this. This is where we can add maximum value and contribute
- Solar cladding on skyscrapers, large buildings and green buildings. The technology exists to convert ordinary soda lime glass or glass panels into a photovoltaic device by spraying a PV coating. These would be ideal for tall office buildings and to some extent residential buildings. Ideal for the Indian climate.
- Perovskite solar cells are a breakthrough innovation. These cells offer a cheaper and more efficient alternative to traditional silicon cells, dramatically increasing the accessibility and efficiency of solar power. Transparent solar panels represent a significant innovation, particularly for BIPV.
- Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) is a solar power system that’s built into a building’s envelope, such as its roof, windows, or facade.
Go green at home / office
Go paperless as much as you can. Use and reuse paper on both sides to reduce dependency on repetitive and long printouts or printouts that don’t have a high priority or are not required for presentations and legal documents. Use office supplies made with recycled material.
Scan and share documents from your cell phone using tools such as Adobe Scan on your Android device.
Take cold water showers in the summers. Turn lights and fans off in vacant rooms.Say no to new plastic bags but reuse cloth bags for groceries and just about anything that fits in.Reduce the carbon footprint of creating software.
There is a cornucopia of ideas for this kind of work and we, at Moss, firmly believe in mitigating climate change and preserving India’s ecology, wildlife and flora and fauna.
