My journey with WhereCity in 2010 was a revelation, introducing me to the digital landscape before terms like “social media” were commonplace. Under Akhil and Karen’s guidance, I explored Mumbai’s oldest eateries, created a blog, and learned the foundations of SEO. The experience extended to managing WhereCity’s Facebook page, where I experimented with new features and content strategies. This allowed me to explore Mumbai while immersing myself in the possibilities of the internet, instilling a spirit of curiosity and innovation that continues to fuel my work today. I’m forever grateful to Akhil and Karen for giving a freshly graduated engineer a chance to live his dream.
I worked as Editor for WhereCity from 2006-2010. Akhil was a great leader to work with. He gave us a good balance of freedom and guidance to work on our beats. We worked with a number of corporate and other entities in the field of cinema, theatre, the food industry and emerging digital tech, including vMobo. All in all, it was a great experience and left me with wonderful memories of the beautiful office and the incredible team.

Looking for photographers to feature on our Photo Feature.
The origin of these Photo Features comes from the initial idea for a stock photo agency called PhotoWoto. The project didn’t start because of the pandemic. However, the blog has been kept alive and has morphed into a written and aesthetic journey into still photography!
Bi-weekly, we feature one great photographer. Some of these photographers are of Indian origin. We would like to feature new and upcoming photographers along with stalwarts in the field, both in India and overseas. We are looking for talent that we can feature to help others understand and learn about this amazing field.

This Week's Photo Feature: Charlie Waite
Charlie Waite (born 1949) is one of the world’s leading photographers. An English landscape photographer, noted for his “painterly” approach in using light and shade, Charlie Waite is a renowned landscape photographer and founder of Landscape Photographer of the Year Award competitions in the UK and USA. Born in England, he worked in theatre and television for the first ten years of his professional life before moving to photography. He is noted for his square format images using a 6×6 Hasselblad (the company is best known for the classic medium-format cameras it produced since World War II).
